Mares Planet 88X + Rover Tech Set

Description

The Planet 88X is the regulator Mares built to rethink how a second stage breathes, and this set puts it on the Mares Rover Tech backplate BCD. The Planet 88X uses Airmatic technology, which replaces the springs in the second stage with a pneumatic valve driven by intermediate pressure, inside an all-metal case with a manual override. The 88X first stage comes in DIN with a TBP Dry Kit that environmentally seals it for icy or silty water, and weighs 786 g. The Rover Tech mounts a 1000 denier Cordura bladder with over 150 N of lift on a 3 mm anodised aluminium backplate, with a fully adjustable harness in one size. No octopus is included, which leaves room to add the alternate air source that suits the diver's training. That covers cold and deep single-cylinder dives, a diver starting extended range training, and a rig that has to breathe well in a drysuit. It suits a backplate diver who wants a regulator for demanding water.
