Mares XR Sidemount Butt Plate

Description

A backmount harness and wing only become a sidemount rig once there is a firm point low on the back to anchor the cylinders, and this butt plate is that part. The Mares XR sidemount butt plate is made of 1200 denier ballistic nylon with Polyphrene hydro-drainage comfort padding. Two marine grade 316 stainless steel handles take the tank attachment, and the plate is rigid enough to keep the cylinders in position and stop them sagging. Four holes along the bottom let it mount on any harness and carry extra accessories. That covers a diver trying sidemount on an existing harness and wing, an instructor converting a teaching rig, and a traveller who wants one harness for both configurations. It suits a diver who wants to convert a backmount harness to sidemount.
