Description

Running a reel, holding a line and reading a gauge all want two hands, which is exactly when a handheld torch becomes the problem. The Mazu TD01 moves the light onto the head, on a 180 degree adjustable bracket so the beam aims down at a reel or forward at a passage without the head being turned. It is rated to 150 metres, unusual for a headlamp. White gives 1200 lumens for 1 hour 45 and 450 lumens for 3 hours 15 through a 17 degree beam reaching 183 metres at 8400 candela, while red gives 50 lumens for 2 hours 30, 15 lumens for 8 hours 45, and a 25 lumen signal mode running 8 hours 50. Red preserves night vision on a surface swim and lets a diver approach a subject white light would scatter. A rotary switch works in thick gloves, and the bracket fits standard action-camera mounts, so the lamp goes on a helmet or a wrist. It suits a diver who needs both hands free.
