SCUBAPRO MK11 EVO/S270

Description

At 746 grams in INT 232 against 797 for the MK17 EVO 2, this is the light option in the diaphragm range, and the weight is the point of it. The MK11 EVO body is forged brass with metal thermal fins and plastic bumpers, kept short by a double spring layout, with two high pressure ports at 15 degrees, four high-flow low pressure ports and externally adjustable intermediate pressure of 9.2 to 9.8 bar. The S270 second stage is the interesting half: an air-balanced valve running a technopolymer barrel on a metal thread, which sounds like a downgrade and is not. Ice crystals find a poor surface to grab on plastic, which is the reasoning behind putting it in a metal role. A polyurethane outer layer over the fibreglass-reinforced nylon case resists the scuffing a regulator picks up rolling around a bakkie. Certification is EN 250A. It suits a diver who travels but still dives cold.
