Description
A snorkel that needs clearing every few breaths is usually blamed on the design when the fault is a hardened mouthpiece letting water past the lip seal. This is the replacement bite piece for the Escape. It is a cheap part on a snorkel that is otherwise sound, and fitting one takes a minute. The Escape mouthpiece is regulator shaped and made to be removed, so it comes off without tools and the new one pushes on the same way. Silicone perishes from ultraviolet rather than from use, so a snorkel stored on a mask strap in the sun will need this long before one kept in a bag. It suits an Escape snorkel whose mouthpiece has hardened, cracked or started letting water in.
