Apeks MTX-R Octopus

Description

An octopus spends its whole life unused and cold, clipped somewhere it can flood, and then has to work perfectly the one time it is needed. The MTX-R octopus answers that by being the same pneumatically balanced cold water second stage as the primary, with no controls to have drifted out of setting. On an out of gas ascent the receiving diver gets a full breathe rather than a stiff backup. On a cold water dive it resists free flow while hanging in the water unbreathed, which is when most octopuses run away. On a boat it takes knocks in the metallic insert cover rather than the housing. It pairs with the MTX-R and MTX-RC first stages. It suits a cold water diver who refuses to carry a cheap backup, and the MTX-RC octopus is the version with adjustment if the primary has controls.
