Night Diver
SKU NDC001
Every dive site you know changes completely once the sun goes down.
The same reef, the same wreck, the same familiar stretch of water you've dived a dozen times, and none of it looks the way you remember. Daytime species disappear. Nocturnal creatures you've never seen come out to feed. Colour and shape reduce to whatever sits inside the beam of your torch, and the whole experience becomes quieter, stranger, and considerably more absorbing.
The PADI Night Diver course teaches you to dive that version of the underwater world safely and properly. All scuba equipment, including dive lights, is included for the duration of the course, so there's nothing to source or hire beforehand. Night diving isn't simply day diving with less light. Navigation changes, buddy contact changes, buoyancy has to be managed more by feel than by sight, and this course builds all of it deliberately rather than leaving you to work it out mid-dive.
If your instructor's ever mentioned Peak Performance Buoyancy as a natural companion course, it's because solid buoyancy control matters more than usual once you can't simply glance down to check your position.
Where Night Diver Takes You
Once certified, you'll be equipped to plan and execute night dives confidently anywhere in the world, at familiar local sites or on dive trips where a night dive is often the highlight of the whole itinerary.
Night Diver is one of the five specialty certifications that counts toward PADI Master Scuba Diver, and the first of your three dives can often be credited as an Adventure Dive toward PADI Advanced Open Water Diver, so nothing here goes to waste if you haven't done that certification yet.
Ready to see your usual dive sites completely differently? Book your Night Diver course below, or get in touch with our team if you've got questions about gear or scheduling.

Prerequisites
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need Advanced Open Water before doing Night Diver?
No. Night Diver only requires PADI (Junior) Open Water Diver or a qualifying equivalent. In fact, the first dive can often be credited as an Adventure Dive toward Advanced Open Water, so many divers do it beforehand.
How many dives does the Night Diver course include?
Three night dives with your instructor, covering light handling, buoyancy control by feel, safe entries and exits, and underwater navigation in the dark.
Do I need to buy my own dive light for this course?
No. All scuba equipment, including a primary dive light, is included for the duration of the course. If you decide to keep diving at night afterwards, we can help you choose your own light setup.
Is night diving more dangerous than day diving?
It carries different considerations, reduced visibility, greater reliance on light and buddy contact, and this course is specifically built to teach you to manage them properly. Divers who complete it consistently describe night diving as calmer and more controlled than they expected, not riskier.
Does Night Diver count toward Master Scuba Diver?
Yes. It's one of five specialty certifications required for the PADI Master Scuba Diver rating, the highest non-professional classification in recreational diving.
Are air fills included in the course price?
No, and that is deliberate. Air is charged as you use it, per fill, and invoiced to you after your session. Every diver breathes differently, and building a worst-case air allowance into every course fee would mean the lightest breathers subsidising the heaviest, so instead you pay for the air you actually use and the course price stays lower for everyone. We confirm the current fill rate with you when we book your dates, and you are welcome to ask us for it at any point before that. Dive site entrance fees are also paid separately, at the site on the day.
