Description

Small buttons and mode sequences are hard to feel through dry gloves, which is the argument for a head that twists on and off at the same output every time and cannot be pressed by accident inside a packed bag. That switch and a 300 metre rating are what separate this from the standard Nova 850, which is rated to 150 metres on a push-button. A Cree XPL LED produces 850 lumens at 4200 kelvin, measured at 17,000 lux at one metre through an 8 degree beam. The machined aluminium body measures 243 by 45 millimetres and weighs 288 grams without batteries, in matte black. Power is three C cell disposables. Double O-ring seals and an over-pressure valve cover sealing and battery off-gassing, and an extended head shroud keeps the beam off other divers. An attachment point takes a bolt snap on a short length of cave line, so the torch clips to a harness D-ring rather than swinging on a wrist lanyard. It suits a technical diver working in dry gloves.
