NRS Tow Tether with Carabiner 135 cm

Description

Towing a swamped kayak or a tired swimmer to safety is far less risky when the line can be released in a moment, and the NRS Tow Tether is made to clip to the quick-release harness on a rescue life jacket. Often called a cow tail, it measures 135 cm stretched and 84 cm relaxed, and its built-in bungee keeps slack from snagging on the deck or trailing in the water. One end carries a large forged aluminium O-ring with a minimum breaking strength of 33 kN; the other carries an NRS Nuq twist lock carabiner, chosen to avoid accidental snags on brush and other gear. Hook patches at both ends mate with the loop panels on some rescue PFDs, centring the O-ring on the back and forming a quick-release holder for the carabiner. In swiftwater work it helps tow boats and swimmers; on a sea kayak trip it makes a short tow line. It weighs about 270 g. It suits rescue technicians and kayak guides who wear a rescue PFD with a release belt.
