OMS IQ Lite Backpack

Description

Travel rigs usually trade comfort for weight, and the OMS IQ Lite Backpack keeps both in check at 1.1 kg (2.4 lb), light enough to pack in carry-on luggage. The soft harness uses anodised aluminium hardware to keep strength up and weight down, so a liveaboard week does not mean a heavy steel plate in the bag. Four trim weight pockets built into the back pad each hold up to about 0.9 kg (2 lb), which helps balance a single aluminium cylinder in warm water. For colder trips the same backpack takes a bigger OMS wing, so the harness stays the same while the lift changes with the cylinder and the exposure suit. Sizes run from XS to XL, matched to chest size and height, and the fit is set once rather than adjusted on every dive. It suits a travelling diver who wants backplate-style trim without the weight of a metal plate.
