This is the whole opening chapter of a diving life, bought once. Open Water to get you certified, Advanced to take you to 30 metres with five dives of proper instruction behind you, and Enriched Air so that none of those dives are shorter than they need to be.

It's also the most efficient possible route. PADI permits Enriched Air to run concurrently with Open Water, and there's no requirement to log dives between Open Water and Advanced, so the whole thing can be done consecutively rather than spread across years.

Most divers get through all three in five to seven days depending on pace. It can equally be spread over months. All scuba equipment is included throughout.

What You End Up With

Three certifications: PADI Open Water Diver, PADI Advanced Open Water Diver and PADI Enriched Air Diver. Qualified to 30 metres, trained on enriched air, with five Adventure Dives logged that each credit toward a full specialty.

You'll also be holding one of the five specialities and one of the two core certifications needed for the Master Scuba Diver rating, and you'll have the Advanced prerequisite for Rescue Diver. Booked separately these come to R13,700.

What This Course Entails

Open Water and Enriched Air run together, which PADI standards specifically permit: five eLearning modules and the enriched air theory, five confined water sessions in a heated indoor pool in Fourways, and four open water qualification dives at Bass Lake Adventures or Miracle Waters.

Advanced Open Water then follows with five Adventure Dives, including the required Deep and Underwater Navigation dives and three of your choosing, plus the Thinking Like a Diver knowledge development section. Your enriched air certification is already in place by this point, so the deeper dives benefit from it immediately.

Most divers complete all three across five to seven days, though there is no time limit and the bundle can be spread out. All scuba equipment is included throughout. Site entry fees and enriched air fills beyond training are quoted separately.

Prerequisites

No previous diving experience required. This bundle starts from scratch.
Minimum age is 12, because that is the Enriched Air minimum. Divers aged 12 to 14 earn Junior certifications and dive to a maximum of 21 metres.
Able to swim 200 metres, or snorkel 300 metres, and float unassisted for 10 minutes.
Complete a basic health screening questionnaire to confirm you're fit to dive.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does the whole thing take?

Most divers get through all three across five to seven days, depending on how fast they work through the eLearning and how the dive days fall. It can be spread over months instead if that suits you better. There's no time limit on the bundle.

Can I really do both at the same time?

Yes, and it's PADI standards that say so, not us being clever. You're permitted to enrol in the Open Water Diver course and the Enriched Air Diver course concurrently and complete them together. It's the most efficient way to do it, and it means your very first dives as a certified diver can be on enriched air.

Do I need experience between Open Water and Advanced?

No. You can move straight from Open Water into Advanced Open Water with no dives in between, and plenty of divers do exactly that. Advanced is designed as skill-building under instruction rather than a test of experience, so rolling straight on often works better than leaving a gap.

Do I have to do the courses back to back?

Not at all. Book the bundle once and then schedule each course as it suits you, whether that's over a fortnight or across a year. The saving is on the package, not on cramming it in, and your bundle price is held regardless of how long you take.

Is equipment included?

Yes. All scuba equipment is included for the duration of every course in the bundle, exactly as it would be if you booked them separately. Site entry fees for qualification dives, and any boat or charter fees, are quoted separately.

What if I don't end up completing the whole bundle?

Talk to us and we'll sort it out sensibly. The discount applies to the package as a whole, so if you stop partway we'd settle up at the standard price for the courses you actually completed. Nobody gets penalised for a change of plan.

Are air fills included in the course price?

No, and that is deliberate. Air is charged as you use it, per fill, and invoiced to you after your session. Every diver breathes differently, and a nervous first-timer will get through considerably more air than someone on their fourth qualification dive. Building a worst-case air allowance into every course fee would mean the lightest breathers subsidising the heaviest, so instead you pay for the air you actually use and the course price stays lower for everyone. We confirm the current fill rate with you when we book your dates, and you are welcome to ask us for it at any point before that. Dive site entrance fees are also paid separately, at the site on the day. Everything else, including your PADI eLearning, your instruction and the use of all scuba equipment, is covered by your course fee.
