Description

Electronic switches are the part of a dive light most likely to fail, because a switch is a hole in a sealed body. The D511 uses a mechanical rotary head instead, turned to select a mode, which is what makes it reliable at depth rather than merely rated for it. Output is a maximum 2200 lumens from a CREE LED behind an 8 degree beam, narrow enough to reach into a wreck compartment or a crack in a reef and pick out what is inside rather than washing the whole scene. Power comes from two 26650 cells, with three C cells accepted as an alternative, which matters on a trip where charging is not available. The body is aircraft-grade aluminium in a diamond-grade hard anodised seawater-corrosion-resistant finish, closed with two-sided coated toughened glass and rated to 150 metres. It suits a diver who wants a narrow, powerful beam on a switch that cannot flood.
