The OrcaTorch D580 solves a problem most divers only discover the hard way: what happens when a primary light dies at depth on the second dive of the day.
At 530 lumens through a narrow 6-degree beam, it's not built to compete with a primary torch on raw output. It's built to be the thing sitting in your BCD pocket that you never notice until the moment you need it. That narrow beam angle actually works in its favour here, focusing what light it has into a penetrating spot rather than spreading it thin, useful for signalling or picking out detail even at reduced brightness.
Power flexibility is the D580's real trick: it runs on a single 18650 Li-ion rechargeable battery for day-to-day economy, but drops in three AAA alkaline batteries just as easily when you're travelling somewhere charging isn't guaranteed. Runtime sits at 3 hours 30 minutes on the rechargeable cell, 2 hours 50 minutes on alkalines, enough to see you through when a primary fails mid-dive.
The mechanical head rotary switch is the same reliable design running through OrcaTorch's range: twist to activate, no button contacts to corrode or fail, and no risk of it switching on accidentally in a kit bag. Depth-rated to 150 metres and built from aircraft-grade aluminium with a hard-anodised finish, it's compact at 128.5mm but doesn't cut corners on build quality to get there.
Whether it's a backup for a D700, D710, or DC710, or simply a low-cost primary for less demanding dives, the D580 does the unglamorous job of being there when the main light isn't.

Yes, all the scuba gear we sell is covered by the manufacturer's warranty against defects in materials and workmanship. The warranty period varies depending on the brand and product.
