Snoot

Description

A 120 degree flood lights the subject and every particle of silt between the lens and the subject, and it is that returned light which turns a macro shot grey. Narrowing the cone removes most of it. The snoot clips over the head of a D530V or D710V MK2 and reduces the flood to a small controlled circle, with nothing else on the light changed. It also lets the background fall away to black, which separates a nudibranch or a shrimp from a busy reef behind it and is the reason the technique exists. Restricting a beam is far easier than adding light afterwards, which makes this the cheapest piece of control available in front of a video light. It fits the updated D530V and the D710V MK2 and no other model in the range, so an early D530V should be checked against the head before ordering. It is supplied as the snoot alone. It suits an underwater photographer shooting macro.
