PEREGRINE CONSOLE COMPASS
SKU 16038
Description
A compass card is balanced for the magnetic dip of the hemisphere it is sold into, and a northern card used in South African water tilts and sticks against the capsule instead of settling, which is why the wrong one reads badly no matter how carefully it is held. Shearwater build both. On a local dive off Cape Town or Sodwana the southern card settles flat and gives a bearing the diver can trust. On a trip to the Red Sea or the Mediterranean the northern card does the same there. On a low visibility dive where navigation is the whole plan, a card that hangs up is worse than no compass at all. The module fits the Peregrine and Peregrine TX consoles. It suits a diver building or repairing a console who dives mostly in one hemisphere, and southern is the correct choice for South African diving.
