Description

Petrel battery caps come in two knurl patterns and they are not interchangeable, so ordering the wrong one leaves a diver holding a part that will not seat. The crushed style has the older textured finish and the radial style the ribbed pattern, and the right answer is whichever is on the computer now. On an expedition a spare cap means a dropped one on a wet deck does not end the trip. On a computer a few seasons old a fresh cap and O ring restore a seal that has been nursed with grease for too long. On a cold water dive where the battery is changed with numb fingers, a cap with clean threads is the difference between a sealed case and a flood. It suits any Petrel 2 or Petrel 3 owner, and the safest move is to look at the cap fitted before choosing.
