Ritchie Navigation SportAbout Handheld Compass

Description

A handheld compass is the simple backup on a small boat, and it also works for taking bearings from the deck. The SportAbout has a 51 mm direct-reading dial with a hardened steel pivot and sapphire jewel movement, and a built-in roller diaphragm that extends the temperature range it works in. The case is international safety yellow silicone that resists impact, and it comes with a neck lanyard. A QuickSight V-notch and lubber line make heading alignment easy. The unit is compact for easy handling and storage, and easy to stow in a pocket or cockpit locker. For the night, non-electric chem sticks give 18 hours of lighting. A black or white holder is available separately, which suits deck mounting of the SportAbout on small boats, tenders and dinghies.
