SCUBAPRO S270 Second Stage

Description

The barrel here is technopolymer on a metal thread rather than solid metal, and that is a deliberate choice twice over: the surface gives ice crystals nothing to grip in extreme cold, and it takes mass off the mouth. Without its mouthpiece the second stage weighs 145 grams, which on a long Cape shore entry shows up as less bite fatigue in the final twenty minutes. It is air balanced, patterned on the S620Ti, with compact internal aerodynamics holding work of breathing low. The casing pairs a fibreglass-reinforced nylon core with a polyurethane outer layer that resists scratching. A dive and pre-dive switch works through thick gloves, the purge is large, and a compact exhaust tee sends bubbles clear of the field of view. SCUBAPRO rate it more compact, lighter and better breathing than the S560 it replaces, certified to EN 250A. It suits a diver who wants cold water performance without metal on the jaw.
