Aluminium Reel

Description

A reel that lays a guideline through a wreck or sends up a buoy from a deep stop needs a solid frame and a winding action that does not jam in cold hands. This Scubatech reel is built from oxidised aluminium around a stainless steel hub, with a stainless swivel bolt snap for clipping off and a comfortable handle. A clutch on the spool controls how the line pays out. The large version carries 93 m of line, enough to run a guideline on a wreck or cavern course. The small version carries 53 m, which suits sending up a delayed marker buoy from a deep safety stop on a boat dive. The line colour and thickness are not published, and the metal build makes it heavier than a plastic reel, so it is usually clipped off rather than kept in a pocket. It suits a diver training in wreck, cave or decompression diving who wants a durable metal reel.
