Reel DR

Description

Sending a buoy up from a safety stop goes smoothly when the reel can be locked, freed and ratcheted with one thumb while the other hand manages the buoy. The Scubatech DR reel has a three-position thumb switch for lock, free spool and ratchet, 50 m of line and a stainless steel snap. Its hub is enclosed, so loose line cannot wind into the axle and jam the spool. On a recreational boat dive, 50 m is ample line to send up a delayed marker buoy from a safety stop in open water. For a diver on an advanced course, the ratchet setting stops line spilling out when the reel is clipped off during navigation or search exercises. The bright yellow spool is easy to see in green water. It is a mid-size reel rather than a long guideline reel for penetration. It suits a diver who wants a simple, one-handed reel for buoy deployment.
