Where ski-boats and fishing boats run close to a dive or snorkel site, a flag above the water is the clearest way to say that people are below. This Scubatech signal buoy is a round float printed with DIVER BELOW and topped by a red and white dive flag, so the message reads from a distance. On a shore dive near a slipway, it marks the group's position for passing boats while the divers are down. For a snorkel guide leading a line of swimmers over a shallow reef, it gives a fixed point to regroup around between stretches of swimming, and the float itself has a hard-wearing nylon cover. It stays at the surface and is not built to be sent up from depth like a delayed marker buoy. It suits an instructor, guide or shore diver who wants a simple flagged surface float.
