Scubatech Snorkel Purge Valve Membrane

Description

When a purge valve snorkel starts letting water in on every breath, the culprit is usually the thin silicone membrane inside the valve, which curls, tears or picks up sand over time. Replacing it restores the valve for a few rand. This is Scubatech's spare membrane for the purge valve on their snorkels, a small clear silicone disc with a stem that presses into the valve seat. It is worth keeping one in a save-a-dive kit on a liveaboard, in a dive school's spares box where student snorkels get heavy use, and in a family's beach bag where sand finds its way into everything. Fitting takes a minute by hand: pull the old membrane out and press the new one in. Check it against the old membrane first, since valve designs differ between brands. It suits anyone keeping a Scubatech valve snorkel working.
