Sea & Sea 5-Pin Sync Cord/N

Description

Optical triggering needs a built-in flash to fire the strobe, and not every camera and housing combination has one to spare. The Sea & Sea 5-pin Sync Cord/N connects a single strobe to the housing's Nikonos 5-pin bulkhead electrically, so the strobe fires on the shutter with no fibre-optic cable involved. That suits a DSLR housing without a pop-up flash, a Nikonos film camera still being dived, and a one strobe rig where a wired link is preferred. The cord is coiled, so it stretches and recovers as the arm moves. Strobes listed for it include the current YS-D3 DUO and earlier models such as the YS-110, YS-D1, YS-90DX, YS-120TTL Duo and YS-250PRO, while the YS-20 and YS-60 cannot use it. For two strobes the 5-pin Dual Sync Cord/N splits the connection, and spare cord o-rings are sold separately. It suits a photographer wiring one strobe to a 5-pin housing.
