Squid Anchor

Description

An anchor is dead weight in a board bag until the moment it is the only thing keeping a paddler off a rock, and most are too bulky to be carried at all. The Squid folds: an umbrella structure that collapses for transport and storage, which is what makes a 1.5 kg anchor practical on a SUP, a kayak or a small inflatable boat rather than theoretical. Folding flukes also grip across sandy, rocky and gravelly bottoms, which covers most of what a paddler actually anchors over. It is sold as a kit rather than a bare anchor, with 10 metres of rope, a float and a hooking carabiner, plus a padded case, so nothing else has to be sourced before the first use. The float is the detail worth noting, marking the position and keeping the rope end recoverable. It is finished in red. It suits a paddler or small boat owner who needs to hold position.
