Apeks MTX-R with MTX-R Octopus

Description

Every control on a regulator is something a diver can set wrong in the dark with cold hands, and the MTX-R removes them deliberately. Cracking effort and venturi are set by an Apeks technician and left alone. This pack pairs that regulator with the matching MTX-R octopus, so both second stages behave the same way with nothing to adjust. On an ice or deep cold water dive the sealed first stage and unfreezable end cap do the work that controls would otherwise be compensating for. On a task loaded dive there is nothing to knock out of adjustment against a cylinder. On an out of gas drill a panicking diver cannot make the donated stage breathe worse. The design comes from the MTX, built to the US Navy Experimental Diving Unit extreme cold water test. It suits a diver who wants the cold water performance without the settings, and the MTX-RC pack is the adjustable alternative.
