Suunto A-30 Baseplate Compass

Description

Navigation does not stop when the light fades, and a compass that can be read at dusk or in poor visibility is worth carrying. The A-30 is a compact, accurate baseplate compass for hiking and orienteering with luminescent markings so it can be read in low light. The transparent baseplate carries a magnifying lens that makes small print on a map or chart easier to read, and it lies flat on a chart for plotting bearings. This version is balanced for the southern hemisphere, so the needle settles correctly in South Africa. Suunto lists an accuracy of 2.5 degrees, a resolution of 2 degrees and an operating range of minus 30 to 60 degrees Celsius. It weighs about 32 g and measures roughly 114 x 57 x 10 mm. It suits a hiker, skipper or orienteer who wants a reliable pocket compass.
