Suunto Clipper Compass

Description

A compass that is always on the wrist is one that actually gets used. The Clipper is a tiny liquid-filled jewel bearing compass that clips to a watch strap, a sleeve, a backpack strap or the edge of a map, which frees the hands and keeps the heading in view. It is balanced for the southern hemisphere, so the card sits level in South Africa rather than dipping as a northern-balanced compass does. The cardinal directions are printed in luminous paint on the card, so it can be read in low light, and the bezel rotates in 10 degree steps to mark a direction to hold. It measures only 30 x 24 x 11 mm and weighs 5 g, so it adds no real bulk to the wrist or the pack. It is a fun and supercompact aid for simple underwater navigation, as well as for hiking, kayaking and boating. It is made in Finland and has a limited lifetime warranty.
