Description
A magnetic charging connector has no pins to bend and no socket to flood, which is why Suunto use one, but it does have contacts, and contacts collect salt and grit. A cable that has started charging intermittently is usually telling that story rather than announcing a fault in the computer. This is the genuine Suunto magnetic charging and data lead, so the magnet holds in the right place and the contact pattern matches. It charges the computer and carries dive logs into the Suunto app or SuuntoLink, which is also the route firmware updates take. Rinsing the contacts and drying them before charging is the habit that makes one of these last a few seasons. It suits a Suunto owner replacing a corroded or lost cable, or keeping a spare in the travel kit.
