Description
The mount on an SK-8 outlives the capsule fairly often, because bungee and webbing simply do not fail the way a fluid-filled compass does. A capsule that has taken a bubble, gone cloudy or lost its damping is finished, but the mount attached to it is not, and this part exists so that only the broken half gets replaced. It fits both the SK-8 bungee mount and the SK-8 strap mount, so it makes no difference which was bought originally. This is a repair part rather than a complete compass, so a first-time buyer needs the compass with a mount instead. Dive centres tend to hold one or two against the day a rental compass comes back with a bubble in it. It suits an SK-8 owner whose capsule has failed but whose mount is sound.
