Swim Buoy

Description

A swim buoy that catches wind and chop pulls sideways on every stroke, and after a kilometre that drag is doing more work than the swimmer. This one is tapered specifically to improve hydrodynamics in a blurred sea and wind, with a brilliant surface finish for an easier slide, so it tracks behind rather than fighting. Visibility is the other half of the job, handled by red-orange fluorine fabric that stands out against water from a distance. Inside there is a watertight compartment with a sealing system that works particularly well with a rigid liner, so keys, a phone or a tracker travel dry rather than being left on a beach. The inflator closes with a safety screw, which is what stops it working loose against a wetsuit over a long swim. It is finished in orange. That answers a coastal swim, a training session and a crossing. It suits an open water swimmer who wants low drag and a dry compartment.
