Tec Trimix 65
SKU TTM001
Below 50 metres, air stops being a sensible thing to breathe. This is what replaces it.
There's a depth at which nitrogen stops being a background inconvenience and becomes the main problem. Narcosis measurably degrades your judgement, and dense gas makes simply breathing hard physical work, and both arrive precisely where you can least afford them. Tec Trimix 65 is where helium enters your diving properly.
The course takes you to a maximum depth of 65 metres on trimix, a blend of helium, oxygen and nitrogen mixed to suit the depth you're going to. It's the first course in the pathway built entirely around helium as a working gas, rather than as an option bolted onto an air-based dive.
The planning burden steps up to match. Mixing for a target depth, tracking oxygen exposure, and running a decompression schedule across multiple gases is genuinely demanding work, and it's the reason this course sits where it does in the progression rather than earlier.
What Tec Trimix 65 Qualifies You To Do
Once certified, you're qualified to plan and execute trimix dives to 65 metres. That covers a great deal of serious wreck and wall diving that simply isn't accessible on open-circuit air or nitrox, and it's the prerequisite for the full Tec Trimix Diver course.
You'll need PADI Tec 50, at least 100 logged dives, and to be 18 or over. Qualifying certifications from other technical training organisations may apply, so speak to us if you've come up through a different agency.
This course is priced on application, because helium costs move and the number of training dives varies by diver. Get in touch with our team and we'll put a proper quote in front of you.

Frequently Asked Questions
What does Tec Trimix 65 qualify me to do?
Tec Trimix 65 takes you to a maximum depth of 65 metres using trimix, a blend of helium, oxygen and nitrogen. It is the first course in the pathway built entirely around helium as a working gas rather than as an option, and it opens up depths that are simply not sensible on air or nitrox.
What are the prerequisites for Tec Trimix 65?
PADI Tec 50 certification, a minimum of 100 logged dives, a minimum age of 18, and medical clearance signed by a physician within the last 12 months. Qualifying certifications from other technical training organisations may apply, so talk to us if you have come up through a different agency.
Why is helium used at these depths?
Two reasons. Nitrogen becomes seriously narcotic well before 65 metres, to the point where your judgement is measurably impaired at exactly the depth you can least afford it. Nitrogen is also dense, which makes breathing physically hard work at depth. Helium solves both. It is not a luxury at this level, it is what makes the dive survivable.
Where are the training dives run?
From Tec 45 upwards we run training dives at Komati Springs, which has the depth to support proper decompression training, or as a coastal qualification if you would rather qualify in the sea. Gas is always quoted separately from the course fee, along with site entry and any boat or charter fees, so you only ever pay for the gas you actually use.
Why is Tec Trimix 65 priced on application?
Because the cost is dominated by helium, and helium prices move. Rather than publish a figure that is wrong by the time you read it, we quote each course individually based on current gas costs, the number of training dives your progress requires, and where the dives are run. Get in touch and we will put a real number in front of you.
