The lightest full-size plate Tecline make is carbon fibre, and for a diver who weighs every item before a flight, it saves more than any metal plate can. This set pairs Tecline's 3 mm carbon standard backplate, 40 by 26 cm and 0.475 kg, with a carbon single tank adapter of 7 by 30.5 cm and 115 g, fixed with titanium screws. Tecline recommend the plate size for divers over 170 cm. For a single-cylinder travel rig, plate and adapter together come to under 600 g. In warm water with a thin suit, the carbon adds almost no weight that has to be offset. The black carbon weave also suits a rig built to look understated. Carbon carries no ballast, so cold-water drysuit divers usually need weight elsewhere. A harness, wing and tank bands are needed to finish the rig.
