DIR Harness with 3mm Aluminium H Backplate

Description

A backplate for travel only has to be stiff enough to carry a cylinder and a wing, and the less metal there is, the more of the baggage allowance is left for the rest of the kit. This Tecline set mounts the one-piece DIR harness, standard webbing with movable D-rings, on a black 3 mm aluminium H-shaped backplate and adds a crotch strap, for a set weight of 1.27 kg. The H plate keeps the full 40 by 26 cm outline but weighs 0.53 kg, against 0.85 kg for Tecline's standard aluminium plate. For a single-cylinder dive trip abroad, it packs into a wing bag with room to spare. On a warm reef in a 3 mm wetsuit, it avoids adding weight the diver would then have to offset. The webbing is cut to fit one diver, and Tecline recommend this plate size for divers over 170 cm. The wing and single tank adapter are separate items. It suits a diver who wants a black, light DIR rig for travel.
