Open SMB 25/122 cm with Weights

Description

An open buoy can flop onto its side at the surface and spill its gas, and weight in the base keeps the opening down and the buoy upright. Tecline's 25/122 open buoy is a wide orange tube 25 cm across and 122 cm long, with lead weights built into the base and a stainless steel bolt snap on a webbing tab. The weighted, open end fills easily from a second stage at depth, with no valves to maintain. On an ocean dive in a light swell the extra width gives a buoy that stands tall for the boat. On a training dive it is a forgiving buoy for students to deploy, because the weights help it settle upright. The line still has to be kept taut to stop gas escaping from the open base. It suits a diver who wants a wide, weighted open buoy that stays upright.
