Description

Buying a second, thicker wetsuit for the colder months is expensive and bulky to pack, when the chest, back and head are where the extra neoprene is most wanted. The Proterm 5 mm shorty vest has short sleeves, short legs and an attached hood, with a plush lining inside and smooth-skin neoprene around the face to limit flushing. Over the Proterm overall it doubles the neoprene across the core and replaces a separate hood, which keeps a winter quarry dive comfortable for longer. On its own it becomes a hooded shorty for warm-water trips, where a full suit would be too much on a tropical reef but bare skin leaves the diver chilled by the third dive of the day. Kevlar patches reinforce the shoulders, and the YKK front zip runs in a sheath with protection bands along its length. It suits a diver who wants one piece that works as a warm-water shorty and as a cold-water top layer.
