Description

A reel that overruns or jams while a delayed SMB is on its way up turns a routine ascent into a tangle, so line control counts for more than capacity. Tecline's Smart reel carries 75 m of orange line on a compact open-frame spool, with an integrated brake that controls pay-out and stops unwanted unwinding. A ratchet crank winds the line back in, and the adjustable handle sits horizontally so the reel can be held steady with a thick glove. On an ocean dive it sends up a DSMB from depth and reels the line in during the ascent and stops. On a wreck or in a quarry it runs a short guideline or a search pattern. The reel comes apart so the spool can be removed and rinsed thoroughly after salt water, or swapped out. A stainless steel double-ender is supplied. It suits a diver who wants a compact, controllable reel for SMB work and short guidelines.
