Stainless Steel Backplate 3mm

Description

Most divers who move to a backplate and wing start with 3 mm stainless steel, because the plate carries a useful 2 kg of ballast while staying rigid enough for a single cylinder or a twinset. Tecline's standard 3 mm stainless plate measures 40 by 26 cm, the size they recommend for divers over 170 cm, and comes with the Tecline name cut through it or as a plain plate without the logo. The logo version weighs 2.05 kg and the plain one 2.10 kg. In a drysuit at a cold inland site, that steel takes part of the lead off the belt and puts it along the spine. As the base of a twinset rig it bolts to tank bands and carries a doubles wing. A diver upgrading from a travel aluminium plate can move the same harness across. The plate comes bare, with harness, wing and cylinder hardware bought separately. It suits a diver building a first steel backplate rig or replacing a worn one.
