A base layer has two jobs that usually conflict, keeping a diver warm under a drysuit and not turning into a wet rag when worn on its own in the tropics. The Carbon Core does both because the graphene lining moves heat rather than simply trapping it, taking warmth from the body's hot spots to its cold ones. On a warm water dive it works as a rash guard against sun and a harness. On a cold water dive it goes under a drysuit as an extra layer without adding bulk that fights the suit. Under a suit the breathable fabric stops moisture building up, which is what makes a diver cold on the surface interval.
