WFS05 Ring Strobe

Description

A round flash tube spreads light in a softer, rounder pattern than a straight tube, which is why many wide-angle shooters prefer a ring strobe. The WFS05 uses one, with a full-power guide number of 24 at 1 m and ISO 100 and eleven steps from 1 to 24. It fires from the camera over the supplied fibre-optic cable, recycles in 0.1 to 1.5 s depending on power, and gives more than 1200 full-power flashes from its four-cell 18650 pack. For wide-angle reef shots it lights the foreground evenly, on a macro dive the built-in 200 lumen white focus light helps the camera find focus, and at night the 1 W red light gives a working light. The screen flips so the strobe reads correctly whether it is mounted up or down, and there are separate remote and strobe ports. It weighs 1050 g on land and 240 g in water and is rated to 100 m. It suits a photographer who wants a powerful strobe with a built-in focus light.
