Description

Ditching weight is a one-handed action, done in gloves, often at the surface in a swell with a diver low in the water, and a stiff or corroded buckle turns that into a two-handed fight. Stainless steel in salt water keeps the action free, which is why the buckle is the part being paid for here rather than a plastic one. Behind it runs 5 centimetres of quick-drying nylon webbing, which lets go of water instead of holding it, so a belt coiled into a kit bag does not come out smelling the way an ordinary one does. Colour is black. Lead is bought separately and matched to the exposure suit, since a Cape 7 mm semi-dry needs a great deal more of it than a shorty in Sodwana. There are no pockets on this belt, so hard blocks thread directly onto the webbing. The same belt is listed with a nylon buckle for divers wanting less metal on the rig.
