Turtles are the animal most divers in South Africa see first and remember longest, which is presumably why more of them end up on shirts than anything else. This one runs a green turtle across the shoulder blades surrounded by tropical flowers in coral, yellow and pink, printed at a size meant to read from a few metres rather than from arm's length. Cream is the reason the print works. It takes the edge off the contrast and lets the softer colours carry, where white would flatten them. The cut is a loose fit rather than a fitted one, with a classic round neckline and short sleeves in a soft lightweight jersey, stocked in three generous sizes. Washed inside out on a cool cycle and dried out of the sun, the print stays where it started. It suits a boat deck, a beachfront restaurant and the drive home.
