Apeks WTX-D40 Single Cylinder Wing

Description

When the kit list runs to a steel cylinder, a 7 mm suit and a fair amount of lead, the lift figure on a wing becomes the first thing to check. The Apeks WTX-D40 is the largest standard wing in the WTX single cylinder donut range, rated at 40 lb, 178 N, in a continuous oval cell that stops air shifting sideways and lets the cylinder nest deep inside it. It shares the build of its siblings: 1000D Armorshield Cordura, a 22 mil urethane air cell, a YKK zip, a K style inflator with brass buttons on a low profile hose, and a flat dump valve at the lower left. In cold Atlantic water under a thick wetsuit it carries the lead. On a boat with a large steel cylinder it has the reserve to float the rig at the surface. For an instructor carrying spare weight for students it adds margin. Harness and backplate are sold separately. It suits a diver whose rig is heavy rather than a warm water traveller.
