Description

An LCD showing charging current and status, rather than a single indicator light, means a cell that is not taking charge is obvious the night before a dive rather than on the boat. That display is the reason to pick this over a simpler charger. It handles the 18650 cells used in the SCUBAPRO Nova 850R range and the SeaLife Sea Dragon Mini lights, running from any 5 V 1 A USB wall charger, so no country-specific plug adapter has to travel with it, and it selects the charging current automatically between 0.5 A and 1 A to suit the cell, which is what protects lifespan across repeated charges. Reverse polarity and short circuit protection are built in, and a 0 V activation function will revive an over-discharged cell a simpler charger refuses. A full charge takes about three hours, so one charger and a spare cell cover a two-dive day. It also takes 14500, 16340, 18350, 21700 and 26650 cells. It suits a diver charging 18650 lights on the move.
