XDEEP Backplate

Description

A backplate is the one piece of a technical rig that never wears out, so the choice is really about how much of the ballast should live on the back rather than on a belt. Stainless steel adds roughly 2 kg and takes the same off the waist, which is where most divers want it, while ultralight aluminium goes the other way for anyone flying against a baggage allowance. All of them use 11 inch hole spacing and 50 mm webbing slots, so harnesses, wings and single tank adapters interchange across the range. The NX plates carry an enlarged upper section that shifts load off the lumbar region, and they are sized by diver height: S under 175 cm, L at 175 cm and above. Harness, webbing and padding are separate purchases. It suits a diver building a rig from parts rather than buying a jacket complete.
