XDEEP Backplate

A backplate is the one part of a wing system you'll likely never replace, so the choice comes down to how much lead you want to carry. Aluminium runs about 1 kg and suits travel and warm water. Stainless steel is closer to 3 kg and takes that weight off your belt, which most divers in a drysuit prefer.

The NX plates are the current generation, cut in two lengths. S fits torsos up to roughly 45 cm shoulder to hip, L covers taller frames. Getting the length right counts for more than the material choice, because a plate that's too long pushes the crotch strap out of position and unsettles your trim.

Ultralight is XDEEP's thinner aluminium plate for divers counting grams on a flight. Every plate here takes standard 50 mm webbing and any single tank adapter.
