NX Bottom Backplate Pad

Description

The bottom edge of a backplate sits directly on the lower back, and on a plate with an enlarged NX upper section that is where the remaining load concentrates. A pad there is the difference between a comfortable three-hour dive and one that ends because of the diver rather than the gas. This one is 3D mesh, which matters for two reasons: it drains and dries between dives rather than carrying water home in the bag, and it does not compress at depth, so the buoyancy of the rig does not shift as the dive gets deeper. It comes in S and L, sized to the NX plate rather than to the diver, so the size follows whichever plate is already owned. It fits NX plates only and will not sit correctly on the classic aluminium or stainless plates. It suits an NX plate owner diving long or in a thin suit.
