XDEEP ZEN Ultralight Set

Description

An ultralight plate carries almost no ballast, which sounds like a disadvantage until the diving is warm and the suit is thin. In a 3 mm suit a stainless plate can leave a diver several kilograms overweighted before any lead goes on at all, and the fix for that is not more gas in the wing, it is less metal on the back. This is the Zen on an ultralight aluminium plate, lighter again than the 3 kg standard aluminium version, with the same 19 kg donut wing and the same NX geometry that moves load off the lumbar region. Whatever lead is needed goes on a belt or into the optional pockets, up to 16 kg, so ballast becomes a decision per dive rather than a fixed property of the rig. Sizes are S under 175 cm and L above. It suits a diver who mostly dives warm water in a thin suit.
