Jabsco is part of Xylem, the water technology group, which says its Jabsco range is engineered for the demands of the leisure marine market and for small scale specialised industrial work. On a boat that means the pumps behind the taps, the deck hose, the bilge and the heads. The brand also makes engine cooling pumps and searchlights, which we don't list. Before you choose anything below, check your boat's supply: most units come in 12 V and 24 V versions, and they aren't interchangeable.

Fresh water pumps

Pick a Par Max pump by how many outlets it has to feed. The Par Max 1 serves a single tap at 3.8 litres per minute. The Par Max 2 covers two or more outlets at 7.6 litres per minute, and the Par Max 3 moves 11 litres per minute for a galley tap, basin and shower. The Par Max HD 4 serves four or more outlets on 24 V. For a bigger boat, the Par Max Heavy Duty has a five chamber design that delivers 22.7 litres per minute through 19 mm hose and suits seawater too. All of them are diaphragm pumps that self-prime and can run dry without damage, so a drained tank won't harm them.

Washdown pumps

A HotShot pump runs a deck hose that stops when you let go of the trigger. The HotShot HD 15 L/min with hose cuts out at 4.1 bar and suits a ski boat or a small dive boat where salt and sand need rinsing off after a launch. The HotShot Heavy Duty 22.7 L/min with hose gives more flow at up to 4.8 bar for a larger deck. Both versions come without the hose and in 24 V as well.

Manual bilge pumps

A hand pump keeps working when the battery is flat, so carry one as back-up to an electric bilge pump. The Amazon Thrudeck mounts through the deck or a bulkhead, moves up to 50 litres per minute and comes for 25 mm or 38 mm hose. The Amazon Universal moves up to 100 litres per minute, and you reverse the flow by swapping the inlet and outlet ports.

Engine room blowers

Match the blower to your ducting first: 75 mm units move 4.2 cubic metres of air per minute, 100 mm units move 7. A flangemount blower bolts straight onto a bulkhead, while a flexmount lets you turn the outlet to meet existing ducting. For long hours on a charter or commercial boat, the Continuous Duty 100 mm Flexmount Blower has a motor rated for 5,000 hours.

Marine toilets and ballast

The manual Twist n Lock toilet comes with a compact bowl for tight cabins or a regular bowl, both in vitreous china with a pump you can mount for left or right-handed use. If your existing pump is worn, the Twist n Lock Pump Assembly fits 29090 and 29120 series toilets only, so check the series first. For wakeboard and ski boats, the Ballast Pump is reversible and fills a typical 180 litre tank in under five minutes.
