SEAC in South Africa
SEAC was founded in 1971 in San Colombano Certenoli, in the province of Genoa, by diving enthusiasts Attilio Rapallini and Marco Arata, and it's still headquartered there. The brand makes scuba, freediving, snorkelling and spearfishing gear, including wetsuits, BCDs and regulators; what we carry is its masks, snorkelling and swim range.
Masks for diving and freediving
Both SEAC masks we carry use SEAC's plasma anti-fog treatment on the lens, which makes the surface hold a film of water instead of fogging. Wet the lens and rub it gently with your fingertips to keep it working. The Pura Mask is a frameless single lens with low volume and a wide, natural field of view, designed by SEAC for recreational and professional diving as well as snorkelling. The Wild Mask is a low-volume twin lens with the skirt overmoulded onto the frame, and its lens shape widens peripheral vision for spearfishing and freediving. Both have a 3D buckle built into the skirt. For a spray on top, Bio Gel Antifog 30ml is an anti-fog SEAC describes as 100% natural, for masks and goggles.
Full face snorkelling masks
The Libera Full Face Mask lets you breathe through your nose or mouth while watching the reef, with separate channels for inhaled and exhaled air so the screen doesn't fog. SEAC tests its full face masks on Ansti breathing machines for breathing performance and CO2 levels, and reports the Libera well below the safety limits. Quick-release buckles on both sides let it come off with one hand. The Libera Junior Full Face Mask is the child size, with a dry top to keep splashes out. SEAC recommends it for children aged 6 and up; use it in a pool or on a calm, sheltered beach with an adult close by. If the strap wears, the Libera Full Face Mask Strap fits without tools.
Swimming
The Lynx Swim Goggles have dark lenses with 100% UV protection and more than 180 degrees of peripheral vision, for outdoor pools and sea swims. The Matt Kids Swim Mask is for ages 3 to 6, with an impact-resistant polycarbonate lens and an Easy Touch buckle a parent can adjust quickly. The Shuttle Sport Swim Fins are short, 100% silicone training fins for beginner and intermediate swimmers; they cope with chlorine and seawater, so they double for snorkelling.
