5mm Hood

Description

Fourth Element publish a specific combination for the bottom of the Xenos 7mm range: that suit, a hooded vest, and this hood over the top. Most of the gain comes from the head. It is the middle of the brand's three neoprene hoods and the one most temperate-water divers settle on, at 5mm stretch throughout in a minimalist cut, so no excess material sits at the neck to hold a reservoir of cold water. Glideskin on the inside face means it slides over wet hair instead of catching on it, which removes the least pleasant part of putting a hood on. Micro holes through the crown vent trapped air on descent without letting meaningful water in, and the collar is cut short so the same hood tucks under a wetsuit neck or sits over a drysuit collar. Sizing spans X Small through 2X Large, black throughout. Warmer water is the 3mm hood's job and colder the 7mm's. It suits a temperate-water diver.
