Description

More body heat leaves through an uncovered head than most divers expect, and a hood is the cheapest warmth in a dive bag. This is the Seawave in a 5/3 mm build, thicker over the skull where insulation is wanted and thinner at the face seal where bulk only makes the seal worse. That graded thickness is the whole design idea. Aqua Lung's current international range lists the Seawave Flex in 7/4 mm rather than this 5/3 mm version, so the specific seal, vent and trim details published for that hood are not quoted here and should not be assumed to carry across. What is certain is the thickness combination and that it is built for scuba rather than surfing. That answers a winter shore dive, a deep dive where the thermocline is colder than the surface, and a long boat day in wind. It suits a diver who gets cold in temperate water rather than genuinely cold water.
